Local Habitat for Humanity is now accepting Qualifying Applications

Coos Bay Area Habitat for Humanity is now accepting Qualifying Applications for their Brush with Kindness/Critical Home Repair Program. This Qualifying Application cycle will be open November 6, 2017-December 1, 2017.

Critical home repairs are defined as being detrimental to the health and/or safety of the homeowner.  Categories of repairs include, but are not limited to: roof, windows, siding, entryways/porches, and ramps. Coos Bay Area Habitat staff and volunteers complete the repair work.

Minimum program qualifications:

- Applicants must own the home.

- The home must be the primary residence of the homeowner for 2 or more years prior to application date.

- Applicants must be current on mortgage payments and property taxes.

- Household income must be 60% or less of Coos County Area Median Income (AMI). Gross income for all adults(18+) residing in the home will be considered.

Program participants are expected to repay a portion of the material costs of the repair project through an affordable, no-interest loan. Participants will also be required to partner with Coos Bay Area Habitat by contributing “sweat equity.” Some examples of sweat equity include construction, painting, office work, special events, and providing refreshments for volunteers.

Critical Home Repair Qualifying Applications are available at: Coos Bay Area Habitat’s ReStore, 776 S. 2nd St., Coos Bay; on our website, www.coosbayhabitat.org; or by mail, call 541-756-9080. Qualifying Applications will be processed as they are received. This application cycle closes at 5pm on December 1, 2017.
